NEW PATTERNS AND A SMALLER DEEP-DIVING MODEL FOR RAPALA RIPSTOP LURES
The Rapala® bait that stops on a dime is now available in two new colors and a new size that will stop fish in their tracks and trigger bites.
Rapala® RipStop® lures and Rapala® RipStop® Deep lures are now available in “Live Perch” and “Firetiger” patterns.
Firetiger, a hyper-realistic perch pattern, features a bottle-green back, bright yellow sides with 45-degree-angle black stripes and a bright orange belly and throat. The Yellow Perch pattern is a more-natural-looking baitfish imitation, featuring a black back, muted yellow sides with black vertical stripes and a white belly and throat.
The new size Number 9 RipStop Deep measures 3.5 inches and weighs a quarter of an ounce. By comparison, the existing size 12 model measures 4.75 inches and weighs 9/16th oz. The Number 9 model will dive five to six feet and comes armed with No. 6 and No. 7 sticky sharp VMC black-nickel, round-bend treble hooks.
Looking like a cross between a jerkbait, suspending twitch bait and a swimbait, a Rapala RipStop lure will stop in place and suspend almost immediately on the pause – something no other bait does. A Rapala RipStop Deep lure will dive to eight feet. In comparison, a No. 12 RipStop lure’s max depth is five feet.
When in motion, a Rapala RipStop lure’s unique hard-plastic boot tail creates a hard-rolling, slashing action that mimics a live minnow swimming. Although soft-plastic boot-tail swimbaits elicit bites well on the retrieve, many sink like a stone when paused, scaring off fish still considering whether to commit. The Rapala RipStop lure’s ability to stop, suspend and then resume swimming converts lookers into biters.
