StrikeMaster's New Maven Rises Above The Competition

StrikeMaster’s Maven 40V Lithium Ice Auger delivers expert-level performance and is the lightest, fastest and most powerful 40-volt auger in its class.

The Maven 40V fulfils the needs of anglers seeking an extremely light, reliable ice drill. Drawing on decades of experience producing the world’s best ice fishing drills, StrikeMaster used various innovations and materials to make the Maven as light as possible.

For instance, a proprietary synthetic was used for the molded flighting and, combined with an aluminum hexagonal shaft, make the Maven’s drill unit incredibly light, strong and rugged. The redesigned, more compact powerhead also helped StrikeMaster shave ounces off the Maven.

As a result of these and other efforts, the 8-inch Maven weighs 14.5 pounds, and the 10-inch model is a mere 15.5 pounds.

Despite being lightweight design, the Maven 40V packs a powerful punch and drills extremely fast. Thanks to features like the re-engineered, twin, serrated stainless steel Maven blades and newly designed blade carriage, the Maven 40V is capable of cutting 700 more inches of ice per charge than the competition.

The 8-inch Maven cuts ice at 3.6 inches per second. On a single charge, it can cut an astonishing 2,000 inches of ice, translating into 125 holes through 16 inches of ice. The larger 10-inch Maven model boasts similar impressive specs, drilling 2.5 inches per second and cutting 1,440 inches of ice on a single charge (90 holes through 16 inches of ice).

Battery specs and runtime are important criteria to keep in mind when considering a new electric ice fishing auger. The Maven’s powerful, 40-volt, 5-amp-hour Lithium ION battery offers more capacity, which translates into longer runtimes and more drilled ice per charge than augers powered by batteries with less capacity (e.g., 40V 4Ah).

An Internal Battery Management System also enhances the Maven 40V’s performance and maximizes battery longevity. When the time comes to charge the long-running StrikeMaster battery, the included rapid, smart-charging base makes quick work of the task, taking an empty battery to fully charged in just 2 1/2 hours!

The Maven 40V boasts StrikeMaster’s redesigned, durable, more compact powerhead with contoured, ergonomic soft-touch grips for a comfortable and controlled drilling experience. Other features contributing to its impressive performance and precision include: variable speed functionality, built-in LED light and integrated bubble level to ensure holes are always perfectly aligned.

At the business end of the auger is the newly designed hands-free Magnetic Snap Cover Blade Guard. Easy to put on and take off, it protects the drill unit’s cutting head and blades, and provides an important safeguard.

Comparing electric to gas ice drills is a bit of an apples-to-oranges scenario. Yet, it is important to note that the Maven 40V offers many clean-energy benefits. Its lithium-powered, electric DC brushless motor delivers quiet, consistent power and torque, and starts drilling at the push of a button. As an added bonus, Maven 40V owners will also avoid gas-engine hassles, such as dealing with exhaust, fumes, spilled fuel, oil stains on gear, mixing fuel and regular maintenance.

Whether you’re replacing a gas ice auger or upgrading from an early-generation electric model, StrikeMaster’s new Maven 40V is the lightest, fastest and most powerful auger in its class — and is now the auger of choice for serious ice anglers who demand flawless, reliable performance from their fishing equipment. The Maven starts at $899.99. See the Maven in action in this video.
